Skincare Routine

SimplyElegantBlog-SkincareRoutine

Quarantine has simplified both my skincare and makeup routine, as I am home with parents and I don't have all my products on hand, just my tried and true favorites! Here is rundown of my current skincare routine - I also shared my current everyday simple makeup routine in this blog post.

Face wash (morning and night):  Clinical Cleaning Complex

  • A simple gel cleanser. I have used this for years and love it! I have tried to switch and try other cleansers, like Indie Lee and Dr. Barbara Sterm, but I always come back to this!

Vitamin C (morning): Skin Ceuticals CE Ferulic

  • I've tried a few Vitamin C serums over the years and always come back to this Skin Ceuticals version (I like it much better than the Drunk Elephant option.) Vitamin C serums can be a bit 'sticky' - I like to apply on clean/dry skin and let it soak in for a minute or two before applying my moisturizer.

Moisturizer (morning & night): SkinMedica HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator

  • I usually buy this moisturizer from my dermatologist but was excited to find it on Dermstore!

  • I tend to buy a lot of my skincare from Dermstore - they have a great range of brands/many of which are more niche brands that can be harder to find/more medical grade. (Dermstore is having a 20% off sale right now - from 5/18-5/27 with the code SUMMER)

Toner (night, about 4x a week): Biologique Recherche P50

  • Biologique Recherche products can be hard to buy online, Rescue Spa is my go-to resource. Just know, you need to create an account in order to purchase.

  • Yes, P50 is just that good! Magazines call it a 'holy grail skincare product' for a reason. If you are not ready to make the switch to Biologique - a similar product is Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel Pads.

Retinol (night, about 4x a week): Sunday Riley A High-Dose Retinoid Serum

  • I swear by using retinol in your skincare routine if you are in your 20s or older. From everything I have read, retinol and sunscreen are the best ways to protect your skin and prevent wrinkles as you age.

  • I typically use a retinol I get from my dermatologist but as I can't pop into their NYC office, I am trying out this retinol from Sunday Riley and have been happy with it!

Eye Cream (night): N/A

  • I don’t have a eye cream that I love right now...Let me know if you have one that you recommend?!! I am thinking of trying this eye cream that @being_bridget suggests.

Sunscreen: Elta MD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46

  • They have a clear and tinted version for the face; I prefer the clear so I can apply my makeup on afterword. With my oily/acne-prone skin, I have found this to be the best face sunscreen solution for my skin and this is my dermatologist's preferred brand (which is a nice added bonus!)
