The Pages of Cabana

Martina Mondadori Sartogo started Cabana in 2014, a bi-annual print magazine featuring homes and locations from around the world. Calling Cabana a magazine is inadequate as the issues are collectibles or books in their own right. Every issue has a fabric backed cover, heavy paper stock, breathtaking photography with unique interviews, contributors, and interiors. Opening up Cabana is simultaneously a breath of fresh air and also similar to reconnecting with a long lost friend - the mixture of something familiar and classic and informative as the pages are such a strong contrast to our daily scrolls through Instagram.

Now in 2018, four years and ten issues later, Martina has published her first book, Cabana Anthology with Vendome Press. The 488 pages feature stunning homes from Florence to Colorado and India to London. The book, perfect for your coffee table or as a gift to your design-loving best friend, encapsulates some of the best stories from Cabana's archives. Beyond the photography and text, the book also includes illustrations and past Cabana Covers (with fabrics from Schumacher, Pierre Frey, Burberry and more!)

As an example of the stunning homes, landscapes and spaces featured in the Cabana Anthology is the feature on Upton Wold, a striking garden and estate in the Cotswolds of England. Miguel Flores-Vianna's photography transports you into the lush gardens that have been cultivated over the past thirty years. When Ian and Caroline Bond purchased the property in 1973 there was no garden to be found, simply an old house and the surrounding land; they enlisted the aid of landscape architects Hal Moggridge and Brenda Colvin. Years later their efforts paid off as visitors from around the globe travel to the Cotswolds to visit the gardens (you can too! Click here to learn more about visiting Upton Wold.)

Upton Wold is simply a sampling of the inspiring pages of the Cabana Anthology. Click here to pick up a copy for yourself! This book is not the only project Martina is celebrating this fall as she has also launched a shoppable website (CabanaMagazine.com) where you can purchase curated and exclusive items selected by Martina. And if you are in New York, you can also shop the collection in person at the Cabana Pop Up at Bergdorf Goodman, open now through October 24th. I am hoping to head up to Bergdorf's next week to check it out!
