The Perfect Gift
The other day one of my best friends sent me an interesting article from the New York Times about the expansion of one of my favorite businesses, Glassybaby.
Based in Seattle, Glassybaby sells beautiful and colorful hand blown glass votive holders. In the early 2000s wife and mother, Lee Rhodes, was fighting lung cancer and when she and her husband lit a votive within a handblown glass she felt a sense of healing and peace. In 2001, when Lee was in remission, she founded Glassybaby hoping to bring that same peace and joy into others lives with beautiful candle holders that also give back to the community. Since day one, Glassybaby has given 10% of its profits to charitable organizations.
When I was reading through the article on Glassybaby, I realized that I had never mentioned the company here on the blog before! Over the past two or three years we have obtained a small collection, I think we have about six or eight glasses. The images here are of "belive," the blue shade, and the green is "gratitude." This year I gifted my mom two white glasses to add to our collection (not pictured here) and the color is appropriately entitled "hugs."
Other than in our own home, Glassybaby candles have also become one of my go-to gifts, perfect for a housewarming party or a thank you after visiting a friend's home. While at first all the color options can seem overwhelming, don't fret! The gift section of the website breaks up their glasses into small sets and color ranges inspired by various events. Right now, I have my eye on the "Summer Love" collection.
Do you all have any products from Glassybaby? I would love to hear what colors you love! Or do you have another go-to gift that you recommend?
